Scholarship

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. has embraced scholarship by setting academic excellence as its highest standard. Building on the legacy begun in Iota Chapter, Beta Zeta Zeta Chapter continues to focus its activities on scholarship. In 1947, the chapter began awarding scholarships to high-school women entering college and throughout the years, over 250 local young women have received over $250,000 in scholarships.  By the early 2000s, the chapter had established two named scholarships.

Doris Larkin McAdams Memorial Scholarship

Doris L. McAdams became a member of the Sorority in 1947 after receiving a $25 scholarship offered by Omicron Zeta Chapter at Shaw University, Raleigh NC.

Mrs. McAdams went on to become one of Zeta’s most dedicated members and leaders.  She worked as an educator and subsequently was a librarian in the Cincinnati Public Schools.

Mrs. McAdams was an officer in the State of Ohio and the Great Lakes Region while she diligently worked in Beta Zeta Zeta Chapter for 54 years.  In 2002, a book award was established in her name.  After she passed in 2011, the chapter unanimously changed the book award to a scholarship named after her.
