Sisterhood
In the tradition of our Founders, members of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., are bound as sisters. The bonds of sisterhood are forged and strengthened in many ways.
For some, it begins and continues on college campuses, yet for many it begins, after matriculation in a graduate chapter. Some members have known one another since high school or were already family members.
Other members are workplace colleagues and still others meet for the very first time at an interest group or chapter meeting. However it starts, we are all sisters.
Never tiring in our efforts, Zeta is a community-conscious, action- oriented organization dedicated to transforming the lives of others.
Introduced in 2002, the Sorority’s international service program, Z-HOPE, an acronym for ‘Zetas, Helping Other People Excel,’ encompasses an impressive array of programming areas and activities for chapters. Most of Beta Zeta Zeta Chapter’s service initiatives and activities fall under the Z-HOPE umbrella. The chapter has dedicated many of its service hours over the years to projects and activities that serve mothers and children, or programs that focus on women’s health, domestic violence or civic activities. Some current chapter programs include:
Beta Zeta Zeta Chapter members are multi-generational women of all ages, recent college graduates to retired seniors. Chapter members are mothers, daughters, grandmothers, sisters, aunts, cousins and friends. We represent diverse careers ranging from corporate executives, educators, nurses, pastors, entrepreneurs, and attorneys. Our bond is strong and cannot be broken.
Chapter members also represent special designated categories within the Sorority: Crystal Doves, members with 50 years of experience; Life Members who made an additional financial contribution to the Sorority; and, Legacy members, those related to each other within families - sisters or mothers and daughters.
In addition to our regular monthly meeting (every third Saturday, from September-June), Beta Zeta Zeta Chapter members mix, mingle, work and travel together. Together we read the latest novels, rate the local restaurants, sip and paint, take on special projects, see the latest plays, support local walk-a-thons, and celebrate special occasions while serving our community.
We are involved with each other. We share our successes and our shortcomings and support each other through good times and bad as our relationships grow into lifelong bonds. We not only become closer as friends and sisters but we also ensure the strength and longevity of Beta Zeta Zeta Chapter and the Sorority.
