Finer Womanhood is defined as, “distinguishing characteristics of a woman, one superior in kind, quality, or appearance; marked by or affecting elegance or refinement.” A Finer Woman is someone who epitomizes the true ideals of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. She is seen by all as a leader and sets the example of a true woman of excellence. She is strong and principled and demonstrates great moral character. Finer women do not degrade other women, yet seeks opportunities to uplift every woman to her true measure of brilliance. With this in mind, a Zeta conducts herself in a manner that represents the positive standards of the organization. Since the 1940’s, Beta Zeta Zeta has bestowed upon one or more Greater Cincinnati women the title, “Woman of the Year” or for local chapter members, “Zeta of the Year’ at an annual public program.  Each honoree must, through her community service or career activity, exemplify the ideals of scholarship, sisterly love and Finer Womanhood.

Finer Womanhood - Since its introduction in 1923, Finer Womanhood is a Sorority celebrated in February and March. Unique to our sisterhood, Finer Womanhood celebrates the standards, morals, customs, and attributes all women strive to possess.  While others may claim "Finer," let there be no mistake—Zeta was the first to do it!

 

Beginning in 1950, with few exceptions, Beta Zeta Zeta Chapter has held a public program, luncheon, tea or reception to commemorate this national 

In the 1990s, the chapter combined two objectives into one program, Finer Womanhood Scholarship events.  

 

The chapter has bestowed upon one or more Greater Cincinnati women the title, “Woman of the Year” or for local chapter members, “Zeta of the Year”  during the Sorority’s the Finer Womanhood Celebration.  Each honoree, through her community service or career activity, has stood as “the best” of who we are in scholarship, service, sisterhood and Finer Womanhood.
